July 21 (Bloomberg) -- Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd., the nation's biggest producer of the metal, has halted some production at two ventures in the northern province of Shanxi because of a power shortage.
Shanxi Huaze Aluminum & Power Co. and Shanxi Huasheng Aluminum Co. started to cut output from June 26, Chalco, as the company is known, said in a statement late on July 18. Huaze had halted 25 percent of its 280,000-ton annual capacity as of that date and Huasheng had suspended 22 percent of its 220,000-ton capacity, it said.
Shanxi, China's biggest coal-producing province, issued a ``red'' warning on power, and will limit supplies to energy intensive and polluting factories, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission said earlier this month.
